Many years ago, the ancient line of Kings who ruled the land of Aleris were both immortal and ageless. There was no definite reason as to why the royal blood of Aleris developed this characteristic of eternal youth. However, it was not without great sacrifice that the Kings obtained their immortality...

fighting rules

Below are the rules of combat for Aleris. Generally combat occurs when a character challenges another character. Fighting can be both rewarding and risky; it can entertain or end in character death. The choice to fight is ultimately yours, so be cautious when facing your enemies.

  1. All fights must take place in #Colosseum on irc.sorcery.net if they are to be official.

  2. Both characters must agree to the challenge.

  3. Unregistered characters can fight, but they will be given the Hit Points of a Level 1 character.

  4. A player is not allowed to have two of their own characters fight each other.

    • Example: Bob plays Character A and Character B. He cannot fight himself to gain experience/gold for his other character.

  5. Every fight must have an official judge. No one can judge their own fight.

  6. All stat altering items must be logged as being used before the fight begins. An item not announced cannot be used. Furthermore, any items must be recorded on your character sheet.

  7. The rules and regulations of Aleris RPG must be followed (timeline and rules regarding out of character are examples). If a participant is banned because of their behavior, they lose the fight.

  8. AFK (Away from Keyboard) is permitted during a fight. Players get three (3) chances to AFK during a fight, before the fight is lost.

  9. If an emergency arises and it is necessary for one of the fighters to leave, a fight can be delayed for 48 hours. The player must post on the boards to set up a new time/date/judge to continue the fight. If this does not happen within 48 hours (two days), the fighter will be judged the loser and be considered dead.

  10. The judge must post logs in the Obituaries forum within one (1) day of the fight. If the logs are not posted, the judge will not be allowed to judge fights.

  11. If a player disagrees with the outcome of the fight, they may file an official protest in the thread of the match within 48 hours of the results being posted. The Game Staff will review the protest and the fight, and come to a unanimous decision, which will then be announced.

  12. When a character dies in a fight, they forfeit 1/3 of his/her current XP and gold. This gold and XP is lost whether or not the player decides to resurrect their character.

  13. Only one resurrection per character. Please see rules below for details.

Flow of Battle

Before engaging in any fight, please also be aware of the how the battle will go. Players can not fire off attacks at random; there is a certain order that must be followed.

  1. Before beginning, each fighter must tell the judge what weapons and armor he or she will be using. Weapons and armor MUST be listed on the registered character sheet in order to be used.

  2. Order will be determined by 1d10 roll of the dice; the higher roller decides whether they go first or second. Order stays the same through the fight.

  3. The first fighter will state an action and roll 1d100. If the roll is less than their hit percentage, the action is successful.

  4. If the action is successful, damage is rolled (base damage is 1d2 roll). If the opponent uses their weapon in the attack, that weapon's damage will be added to the 1d2 roll (1d2+2).

  5. Armor soaks damage. The defender will roll the combined points of their soak and that amount will be taken from the damage rolled (1 point DMG minimum regardless of the roll).

  6. It is now the next character's turn.

  7. If the attack is missed, the turn passes to the next person.

  8. The fight continues until the hit points of one character reaches zero.

  9. Running away is based on 1d10 roll: 1 - 5 Successful and 6 - 10 Failure. If running is failed, then turn is lost.

Resurrections

Resurrections must take place in storyline format following specific guidelines.

  1. Each character is allowed only one (1) resurrection. After that, you cannot resurrect your character again.

  2. The character cannot be played until it is officially resurrected.

  3. There must be a storyline with the gods who are able to reverse a death where another character asks on your behalf.

    • Please Note: Elysia and Aurora must agree to bring back the character. Without either one's permission, the resurrection is failed.

  4. The choice for a resurrection remains up to the gods.

  5. If a player disagrees with the outcome of the resurrection, they may file an official protest with a member of the Game Staff. The person contacted will bring the issue to the attention of the rest of the staff and a decision will be given once all are in accord.

  6. All losses at the time of death will remain permanent. You will not get back your experience, gold, or items.
